IPL 2023 : KKR Team Player List and retained players.

At the mini-auction for the IPL 2023, which took place on December 23 in Kochi, the Kolkata Knight Riders meant some serious business. The two-time champions were unable to repeat their success from the previous year due to their uneven play and a lower net run rate than their competitors.

KKR had a total of 11 player spots and a purse worth 7.05 crore Indian Rupees heading into this year’s auction (eight Indian and three overseas players). They let go of the majority of their players, including names like Pat Cummins and Sam Billings. Cummins made himself unavailable to focus on national duties, and Billings backed out of the auction. Other players who were let go include Aman Khan, Shivam Mavi, Mohammad Nabi, Chamika Karunaratne, Aaron Finch, Alex Hales, Abhijeet Tomar, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Sharma, Baba Indrajith

In a deal with the Gujarat Titans, the team captained by Shreyas Iyer acquired bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur from the Delhi Capitals in exchange for New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson and Afghan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

KKR started their account off on the right foot by making a shrewd purchase of the young batter Narayan Jagadeesan for the low price of INR 90 lakh. After that, they put a total of INR 60 lakh into an uncapped Indian domestic talent named Vaibhav Arora. Suyash Sharma was the player who finally drew Kolkata’s attention after they had played the waiting game for a while and offered him base salary of INR 20 lakh.

The former world champions pulled yet another shrewd manoeuvre when they purchased David Wiese for under 1 crore Indian Rupees. The Kolkata-based franchise came out swinging during the fast auction, purchasing three experienced players: a Bangladeshi combo consisting of Litton Das (for INR 50 lakh) and Shakib Al Hasan (for INR 1.5 crore), as well as Mandeep Singh for INR 50 lakh.
